Best places in New York to capture photographs of your wedding

New York is full of stunning scenery which could make the perfect backdrop to your wedding day photos. But where exactly do you go?

Are you looking to shoot photos in familiar tourist areas such as Times Square or are you more keen to find spots that are off the beaten track? Here we give a few suggestions of our favourite spots:

Brooklyn bridge park

Dumbo/Brooklyn Bridge Park
Brooklyn Bridge park is located on the Brooklyn side of the East River in New York city. Not only a great location for taking photos with the magnificent NY skyline in the backdrop - but also a wonderful area to explore.

Dumbo is a neighbourhood in the city of Brooklyn. If you decide to take a stroll over the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan you will reach Dumbo on your arrival into Brooklyn. Dumbo is awash with character and high end eateries and coffee shops.

Jane's Carousel

One of the most iconic spots for taking photographs is Jane’s Carousel - a very popular spot for newly weds to get some great shots. You get the fun of the carousel against the backdrop of the NY skyline across the river.

Great spot for anytime of the day but particularly in sun set when the sky is lit up. Night time proves popular too as the darkness is spotted with twinkly lights. Very atmospheric. Plenty of lovely restaurants close by to head to after the photos have been taken.

Central Park New York

Central Park
A year round beauty, Central Park is photogenic whatever the time of year. Come April the color starts to blossom as the trees and flowers get ready for summer. In the autumn you can expect trees of varying shades of greens to browns with a mix of everything in between. Whatever the date, you will not be disappointed with the images you capture.

Some of our favourite spots include:

  • Shakespeare Garden

  • Conservatory Garden

  • Gapstow Bridge

  • Cherry Hill

Brooklyn Bridge

Brooklyn Bridge
Be prepared to have more than a couple of innocent bystanders in the frame if you decide to head onto the Brooklyn Bridge for your photos, this area is highly popular and is not often free from other people! That said, the atmosphere is electric - whichever way you face you will get a different backdrop - Manhattan, Brooklyn or the river. What’s not to love! Why not walk the length of the bridge and get as many images as you can.

Grand Central Station
With it’s truly buzzing atmosphere, the main concourse of the station could arguably be one of the most iconic locations in New York City. Famous world wide, the breathtaking scenery is just awe inspiring. Again, a busy location but great to get shots for your big day!

Why stop at one! Hail a yellow cab and go between spots to get the most from your photoshoot. Don’t forget to get that shot of the taxi in the background!
